Contemporary Music Festival
ACIMC (the Association of Iranian Contemporary Music Composers) is happy to announce the first edition of the ACIMC Contemporary Music Festival to be held in November 16, 17 and 18, 2018 in Paris. The festival aims to present the work of Iranian contemporary composers along with the selected works of German, French and Italian contemporary music repertoire.
As the core of the festival, acclaimed ensembles such as KNM Berlin, Alternance of Paris and the Sonar Trio of Lecce will present a mixed repertoire of Iranian-European composers, including 11 new pieces of chamber music, commissioned by the ACIMC for the occasion of this festival.
Additionally, the festival includes presentations and discussions on the various topics around the life of contemporary music in Iran. Musicologists and musicians will share their perspective regarding the fast-growing new generation of contemporary music composers and musicians in Iran as well as the obstacles that this new generation is facing and the potentials and alternatives that they are presenting.
And finally, the third part of the festival holds an educational program dedicated to young composers residing in Iran and France. Thanks to an international reading panel, 16 composers have been selected to write 16 brand new pieces. During the course of the festival, the selected composers will attend composition workshops and lessons directed by celebrated French composer, Jean-Luc Hervé, professor of composition at Boulogne Billancourt Conservatoire. Moreover, they will receive input from the musicians of the ensemble Alternance, Sonar Trio and the Ensemble KNM Berlin during the rehearsals and workshops on their pieces, which lead to the performance of their works.
